Dryxanne’s Confessions

last nite i saw d movie Eight Below. Its about 8 Siberian Husky dogs left behind during an evacuation from Antartic. They were left becoz d plane was not enuf space to carry them, so d owner Jerry (by Paul Walker) had to leave them n planned to return directly to get them but d storm got worse n he couldnt do it. So d dogs were left alone (n chained so they wouldnt get loose) with no food at all. Amazingly, they survived. 7 of them got loose n wandered around looking for food while waiting for Jerry to come back, while the oldest one (Old Jack) didnt want to join his companions, he just sat n lied there waiting for Jerry (so faithful…sadly eventually Old Jack died in d cold waiting…).

The leader of d dogs was Maya, d only female in d groups, n d smartest. D naughtiest (n d youngest) was Max, though he was d one expected by Jerry to replace Maya. Eventually, with all d adventures (chasing rainbows n auroras, hunting birds, fighting seals), Max became ready to replace Maya as d leader. D scene where Max was sort of crowned to be leader was touching. They went hunting birds, while Maya was lying becoz her foot was hurt by d seal. Max came n drop 1 of d birds in front of Maya as sign of offering to their leader. Instead of eating it, Maya picked up d bird, n dropped it back to Max, signing dat now Max is d leader of d group. Seeing this, others also came to Max n dropped their catch in front of Max. Max looked confused a bit then understood. But later he stil took back d bird n gave it to Maya n shared it together. Was very touching…

When Jerry came back with the rest of d team, it was very sad to find Old Jack stil tied to his chain, died n buried under d snow. But the other 6 made it (another one died fell of cliff while chasing auroras). I thought Maya died coz only 5 appeared, n Jerry was so sad to find Maya lying on d snow (Maya was his fave as d leader n d smartest one). Well, then Maya didnt die…

Bottom line is, d movie is so touching! and as a dog lover, especially Huskies, i was so, so…no words could describe what i feel whenever i see dogs pics, or dogs movie (like Snowdogs), or real alive dogs in front of me…its just so wonderful feeling, so happy feeling…

definitely a highly recommended movie, to u all dog lovers….
