Football and Zidane
July 11, 2006 by dryxanne
Today’s about why Zidane did what he did.
Yeah, why did he did that?
i dont know, thats why i made it the title of this blog, after i passed 1 week without writing anything. I didnt watch the match (nah-uh…), knew the story from some friends, and now im sitting typing wondering why he did that, becoz what he did, now is making an argument among my supposed-to-be-smart-and-cool-headed guy friends, in our mailing list. From some unclear speculation, some comments raised to a provocation.
Which added another reason to why im not a fan of football (or soccer u may call it that way, i dont care, really..). Im not fond of soccer coz personally i think its a stupid game chasing a small ball across a big field by 20 guys. I only enjoy it for 2 reasons : the hysterical screaming of the commentators when there is a goal (and hysterical screaming of all the thousands audiences), and the cute looking players. Thats all.
Well, i dont give a damn if there is soccer fan out there cursing at this blog. Im just being honest. You can say the same thing with basketball (i happen to like basketball better), or even the boring field tennis (imagine the long endless back and forth on Wimbledon or any other tournaments, i still dig it anyway). I dont mind. Keep cursing one page or more. Doesnt make a difference to me and not gonna make me stay awake whole nite just to watch the match, though ur gonna say its a once in 4 years match.
Back to the title, well, until Zidane comes out with his official statement (perhaps sometime next week), we’ll never know what actually happened. And that will even still have to wait for counter statement from the other side, the Matterazzi guy something. And until then, why dont we just enjoy life and never mind it?
Sit back and relax, guys!!! Its just a game!!!
1.zidane told the press that materazzi called him “a terrorist”
2.there are 21 guys (or girls if it’s a women’s football match), you forgot to count the referee - or add the two linesmen who running in the side of the field
3.to make sense, watch “bend it like beckham” (why women dig football), or “green street hooligans” (why football matters and in england you don’t call it soccer, you called it football)
1. Is the official press conference or release already released? As far as i know, not by the time i wrote this.
2. I know, actually 22 guys (11+11?), i wrote 20 intentionally, coz i dont count the goal keepers who mostly just defend their areas.
3. Didnt watch it, dont think gonna see it, dont think it’d change my mind. And yes, it is football, and its only (perhaps) soccer in US, if im correct. And yes, again i use it intentionally, just to differenciate it with the American football.
4. Thanks for the comments
5. Hooligans are not good samples of football fans. Hooligans caused a lot of unnnecessary riots and are banned to enter the matches everywhere for those recognized by the authorities.
6. And again, i’m still not gonna change my mind, i don’t dig football.
