How many of us that actually spend equal or balanced time between family / personal relationships and work?
And how many of us actually enjoy time we spend for both sides, and don’t want to hurry or rush things?
I guess that’s the idea the movie "Click" was trying to present to us. I saw it last weekend, and despite of the fact that I’m not actually a fan of Adam Sandler - I find him too "straight faced" for a man who does comedy movies most of the time - and that the acting was not really a high class acting, but the story touched hearts.
"Click" was a typical Adam Sandler’s movie, at the beginning. I have to admit, I only saw "50 First Dates", half of "Wedding Singer", "Anger Management"…whoaa…never thought I actually saw more than what I had thought before I started the counting. OK, I didn’t see all Adam Sandler’s movie, but I always think of him as a half-half. I mean, half comedian and half drama actor. Because of his straight face..! He plays comedies but his face is too straight. He doesn’t need to be like Jim Carrey, but at least don’t be so cold like that. Anyway, you can say his face is like a dumb face.
OK, about the film. Its story is about Michael Newman (Adam Sandler), an architect with a fabulously sexy pretty wife Donna (Kate Beckinsale) and 2 great kids. His life was so rushing, and loaded with hell of a job, he barely had time to finish the tree-house for his kids. Caught between job and family, he met a guy named Morty (Christopher Walken), when he was so desperate with all the remote controllers in his house, he was looking for a universal remote controller. Morty gave him a gadget, looked like a remote, only this one was special. When Michael got home, he found out the real use of the remote, that was to control in real life. He could mute his dog’s barks, he could freeze or fast forward his wife when in the quarrels or even when making love, or he could slow down when he saw a sexy chick jog pass his car, with pair of boops bumping up and down. Man…
But then, when he did mistake by fast forwarding too far, eager to see his hard work results in promotion, that was when he realized the remote was now controlling his life. It fast forwarded by itself, jumping a huge 10 years of Michael’s life, caused him lost his family, lost his father who died, left him with huge regrets for missing out those years without actually realizing what had happened. And there was no way back. The remote kept fast forwarded his life, made him lost more and more. His regret couldn’t bring back his life that has passed without he even had the slightest memory about. His kids had grown up, he got divorced, his father had died, and he gained like 100 pounds, although later he got lipo-suctioned. And no matter how he tried, he couldn’t return the remote to Morty either.
In the end, Michael could only grieve in pain for his choice, at the last minutes of his life…
Was it a sad ending?
Naaahh…not gonna tell you. I can just say, if you do have time, this is one drama-comedy movie worth watching. Better if you can catch in on the NOMAT Monday
or even at the "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" weekend with that certain bank credit card, if you don’t want to spend too much on this movie just because it’s not your regular type of movies. Plus there’s a surprise for the Cranberries’ fans.
There’s a surprise? What surprise?
Well, they use "Linger" as background song. "Linger" is my fave song from the Cranberries, although I’m not a huge fans of Cranberries, but I like them well, so I was happy to hear it played in the movie. To Har : if you have time, spare it to see this movie, won’t regret it
I guess the bottomline of the movie is, don’t rush anything. Whatever happens, it all happens for a reason, and there is time for everything. The message is probably just enjoy your life, make the best out of every situation you deal with, and whatever or however important your work might seem, there is something more important, which is your family, or your personal relationships, as the value of relationships is unable to be replaced by material things.
So…did you ever wish that time would fly faster that it already has?
Enjoy the movie…
