A Long Trip
January 22, 2007 by dryxanne
Just came back from a vacation trip.
A quite long one, one I’ll get for this year. Maybe if I’m lucky enough, I can get another by the end of this year.
Went to a trip to Malaysia and Singapore with my parents. Wasn’t quite like what I wanted to be, and the weather was not good, raining everywhere, so I was a bit disappointed of this trip. But to say that would make me sound ungrateful while my friends were working at office and couldn’t go to any trip at all, so I’d say at least I got some time off the office.
But the d**n weather…!!
The rain that poured down right in the moment where I had forced my parents (with all the efforts I could give) to join a show where we could’ve seen the pink dolphins in action. The rain that caused the show to be cancelled. The rain that caused me not able to take some more pics during the way back by cable car from Sentosa Island. The rain that poured down the night we tried to reach Malacca on time. The rain that poured down when we tried to go shopping along Bukit Bintang Street at night.
More than half of my 9 days trip were colored by the rain.
Does it somehow has the connection with the fact that RAIN is coming to Malaysia and Singapore? I mean, RAIN the singer. Nobody of you is his fans? OK, Great then..!! Because I also don’t know who is this person, other than he’s a singer and he’s coming to Malaysia, because there are pamphlets everywhere saying that RAIN’S COMING!!!
Whatever that means.
Soooo…I went to Malacca, didn’t go anywhere interesting, losing my interest although later I regretted because actually there are interesting places to visit in Malacca, like a red church from Portuguese era (St. Paul’s Church, if I’m not mistaken). Because of the rain, I went straight to Kuala Lumpur, met some friends, visited Petronas Twin Tower at night (missed the chance to go up to SkyBridge due to my mistake of the schedule), went to KL Tower, to Tian Hou Temple, MidValley MegaMall, and around Bukit Bintang Area.
Continued to Singapore, we stayed at Chinatown area, at a place called People’s Park Complex. An area with a building of flats, we rented a daily-rent room with a rate of SG$ 55 / night. The room had a bathroom without toilet (getting a room with bathroom AND toilet would add anothet SG$20), quite comfortable, and very near to the MRT Station. The Chinatown, as usual, was crowded, and as the Chinese New Year is coming, the area was dressed in red, and people started selling lampions and red envelopes (angpao) and other stuffs.
We also went to Orchard Road, where in 2 days in a row, we met one Indonesian famous sinetron star, Indra Bruggman. And I went to an interesting CD shop, "Gramophone", where I "flirted" with the shop attendant (haha…), who happened to be a vocalist at a local band that is about to make its move to go international. His name is Rado, Indonesian (Yogyakarta) descended too, and his band is Dark Saviour. He gave me some website address, but unfortunately I lost the card. But I still remember the address so I checked it out yesterday. Quite famous, their guitaris won the best Guitarist at 2005 Battle of the Bands in Singapore. A band that uses a lot of make up (as Rado admitted, some people may not like their appearance), looks a bit similar to Marilyn Manson. We chatted a bit, he helped me find some CD for my Devil, and suggested some more CD. Thanks a lot Rado!
And I went to HardRockCafe shop. The cafe itself didn’t seem interesting, far from the one I went to in Makati, Philippines. And the items sold were not as much as well. So I just bought 1 shirt for my brother’s wife, because she didn’t get any when I bought some in Makati. Went there with my old friend, Lina, thanks a lot Lin..!! She accompanied me for dinner, CD hunting, and walking from Ngee Ann City right to the end of Orchard Road to where the Hard Rock Cafe was located. And it began to rain, again. *sigh*
The trip back to Jakarta, especially from Batam to Jakarta, was annoying. The plane got rescheduled for 30 minutes later, then got delayed for 1 more hour, and when it was in the air for just 10 minutes, it started to shake and dropped a bit, along with my heart dropping as well. Thinking of the (still) missing Adam Air, I was not in a great mood of flying actually. Thank God it landed safely in Jakarta Airport, and I think I would avoid flying (especially with domestic aircrafts) for quite sometime. I pray that when my parents go home sometime in next week, everything will be just fine…
Bought one of my fave perfumes in Orchard, at a shop where they sell original perfumes with price 30% cheaper than the Tangs across the street. The DKNY Green Apple Be Delicious. Wanted to buy my all time fave Carolina Herrera 212, but they don’t have it in sizes I wanted. Was tempted to buy Gucci Envy Me, but the scent took longer time than I expected to be the one I would like, so I decided to skip it.
Bought Norah Jones and Peter Malick’s "New York City", contain of 2 CDs, the original version and the remix version, a rare edition I haven’t seen in Jakarta. Bought some CDs for my Devil as well, Rammstein’s "Live Aus Berlin" and "Mutter". Also HIM’s "DarkLight Limited Edition" (as Rado suggested) and "Uneasy Listening Vol.1". Was very tempted to buy Collection Edition of Alanis Morissette which also had the videoclips, but decided to skip it. Tried to find Evanescence’s 1st album, "Fallen", but the store ran out of it. *sigh*
I uploaded some pictures taken along the trip to my Flickr page (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dryxanne).
That’s a wrap, I guess.
again, you may experience a lot of things, but your writings feel kinda dull.
why don’t write more about Rado and how he makes your heart throbbing like crazy and the time when he invited you to watch his band - oh! if only you just still on S’pore at that date - and maybe a little drink after that?
that’ll be more interesting though…
:p
interesting…
I never said Rado ever invited me to any of his band’s gigs. He, in fact, just told me that they will release a new album (2nd) this year, and they performed as opening band on MAYHEM Asian Legion Tour last year.
I wonder where you got that idea from…the “your heart throbbing like crazy ” and the “little drink after that?”
i mean dat u can certainly spice up your blog by some made-ups dat may not harm anyone…
