Strange Weather (Part 2)
January 22, 2007 by dryxanne
Note that I wrote this lines below, in 1st week of January 2007. And just got the chance to post it now, so forget about all the irrelevant facts, including that the weather now is back to gloomy and windy and cloudy and rainy…
* * * *
I never thought I would write about strange weather, in Indonesia!
It’s been common to people in Jakarta about the seldom appearance of blue sky. Not because Jakarta is always cloudy or rainy, but because its sky is thick with air-polluted clouds. But these few days, that condition seems inapplicable, at least to this southern part of Jakarta where my office is located.
It’s been blue sky for straight few days. I didn’t check last weekend of course, but as long as I can remember, since the new year, the sky has been bright blue with sun shining, for most of the days. And right now as I’m typing this, the afternoon sun rays shine through the glass window, makes me feel grateful that I sit quite few metres away from the window.
It’s as if by the time the calendar turned into 2007, the weather was flipped as well. Oh I can see hot, sunshined days coming ahead. There goes the rainy days, there goes all the thick jackets and sweaters, all the knitted wears and knee-high boots (yeah right, as if knee-high boots are common to wear in this country…).
Welcome the hot, shining days of summer.
Or should I say days of drought?
