A Week of Movies
June 25, 2007 by dryxanne
The last week was amazing.
That was the 1st week I spent watching totally 5 different films, all in cinemas (not in DVD), and 3 of them I watched it alone. Yes, alone. Not "ALONE", that scary Thai horror movie that I think nothing or no one can persuade me to go see it in the cinema, not without a BIG BRIBE behind it.
Anyway…
To list the movies I saw and my comments :
1. Shrek the 3rd (alone)
Funny but not as good as 1st and 2nd ones. But I did like the way Pinocchio played with words so that he didn’t have to lie…the longest silliest word-twisting I ever heard. And the cute Ginger cookie (or is it Ginger bread?). And all the Donkey’s cute half dragon half donkey kids. With their fire breaths. Oh, did I mention Shrek’s ridiculous freak out about having babies? Men…
2. Ocean’s 13 (alone)
I was late for the 1st 7 minutes, thus I didn’t know why the team planned to rob Willy Bank. And throughout the boring movie, I still don’t get it, just what and how much they planned to rob from Bank. And why Tess (Julia Roberts) didn’t appear, or at least the reason why she was not in the show, or maybe I missed that reason during the 7 minutes I missed out.
3. Fantastic Four (with my bro)
Movie for kids. Not just because lots of kids were in the theatre, but the scenes, the story, the actions, all felt a lot like kids movies. Except for the part where Susan Storm (Jessica Alba) laid naked on the street, but even that part was taken from an angle that kids would never see just how sexy she actually was. The only cool thing about the movie was just the Silver Surfer himself. With his cool silver surfboard. And his sexy body, but they never shot the parts lower than his waist, geez, I wonder why…hehe..
4. When Romance Meets Destiny (with Olivia)
This one’s a Korean film, with actors and actresses I don’t know since I’m not a big fan of Korean films, but strangely their looks are very similar to Indonesian’s actors and actresses. The main leading actor may not be similar to anyone, but the supporting actor, he looked almost the same with Ringgo Agus Rahman, and the main actress looked almost twin with Asti Ananta. The supporting actress can be replaced by Bunga Citra Lestari, if the movie will ever be adapted (or copycat) by Indonesia’s producers. Oh I can already cast the possible actors and actress to support the film in Indonesian version. Maybe except for the curly guy. He’s too cute to be portrayed by Eddy Brokoli.
Anyway the story itself if about a stupid coward guy who didn’t dare to confess to a girl he loved for 7 years, and so-called "destiny" (or I’d say, his stupid brother, the Ringo Agus Rahman look-alike) stepped in and messed with his life, and therefore he lost the girl, for good. And what made me wonder is, some mother brought her kid daughter, not more than 8years old, to see a movie filled with scenes that exploit adult half naked bodies, dialogs that suggest that free-sex is common practice (well in Korea, at least!), and Kwangshik (the main male character) was such a "loser" compared to his stupid brother Kwangtae (the Ringo guy), just because he only used his "other little brother" every 2hours just for pee-pee, while his stupid brother used it for…well, you got the point. Which is why the main tagline for the movie was : " 1 girls in 10 years, 10 girls in one year",which could totally lead to a wrong perception for the movie’s content and moral messages, if only you didn’t go and see it for yourself.
But overall, this is a very touching and great movie actually, I’d give it more stars compared to Fantastic Four, Ocean’s 13, or Shrek 3rd. Runner up the best of the 5.
5. The Number 23 (alone)
My comment? It made me a bit freaked out. Trying hard not to start calculating numbers, and justifying them into whatever 23 form. But i did it anyway last night. The thought just shocked me, that I bought 2 tanktops from Mango, then I bought another 3 items from Mango the next 2 days. 2, and 3. And 2 plus 3 becomes 5. My favourite number. How scary can that be? Plus, I bought the 2nd 3 items on Saturday 23 June. Imagine that, 2nd set of items from mango, consists of 3 items, on Saturday (6th day, is 2 times 3), on 23th day of the month, the 6th month and remember, 2 times 3 is 6. And maybe, just maybe, if I dig further, I may find more 23 numbers appear. Like, my birthday, 5 Sept 1980, try to add them all, you get 32, which is a 23 reversed.
I better stop before I kill someone named as silly as Fabrizia (it should be a guy for my case then he should be Fabrizio).
Anyway, it’s the best movie in 2 months, since Spiderman - 3 started all the summer movies madness.
