My Collection
November 15, 2007 by dryxanne
This morning, under a complicated circumstances, I had to leave my room’s key to the landlord. Due to a major leakage caused by hard wind that blew off the roof of the building I’m living in, a project to fix it is on going. Meaning I have to leave my room’s key so the workers can go in and check the leaks and fix whatever necessary. Which leaves me with worry and suspicion on the safety of my belongings in the room.
So, I had to pack all precious things into locked drawers. Took me about half an hour, and when I finished, I got the brilliant idea to take pictures of my room’s condition when I left, just in case, you know. And while I was snapping shots at my wooden rack where I put my books and CDs, I found that pictures taken were actually nice enough to be posted here.
Like this shot of my books :
Several of these books are still in the waiting list. Like "Eldest" on the left, and Stephen King’s "Bag of Bones" next to it. Also Saddam Hussein’s "Tarian Setan", next to Lauren Weisberger’s "Everyone Worth Knowing", which I finished already.
Other books were :
- Neil Gaiman’s "Stardust", done reading few months before the news that the film was on the way to release
- Louis V. Gerstner,Jr’s "Who Says Elephans Can’t Dance?", this one is actually borrowed from my office, shame on me I never finished it and haven’t returned it yet…
- Alan and Barbara Pease’s "Why Men Don’t Listen and Women Can’t Read Maps". A pop-psycho book which was quoted in several online articles, thus drew my intention to read it. Good book.
- Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki "Mitos Mitos Besar yang Keliru". Containing wrong myths in life that are explained in simple, scientific ways.
- Lauren Weisberger’s "The Devil Wears Prada". A Chick-Lit.
- Sidney Sheldon’s "Are You Afraid of the Dark?". I think I read it before, and was on halfway re-read. Belongs to my brother.
- Agatha Christie’s "Curtain : Poirot’s Last Case". Halfway done.
- And on the farthest right, the picture was cut half on another book, a Jane Moore’s "The Ex-Files". Just started few chapters. A Chick-Lit.
- Not in the pic, but I have them as well, are John Grogan’s "Marley and Me", John Grisham’s "The Last Juror" (started few chapters).
I still have several other books but were placed in the box, no bookshelf to put them yet. Like "Einstein Aja Gak Tau", a book on some physics facts that are presented in light words and easy to absorb.
And on the second shelf, here’s my collection of CDs :
1. Celine Dion : These Are Special Times (Christmas Songs)
2. Linkin Park : Minutes to Midnight
3. Norah Jones : Not Too Late (a gift)
4. Norah Jones : The Little Willies (bought in Philippines)
5. Joss Stone : Introducing (a gift too)
6. Dave Koz : At The Movies

Pheeww….that was quite many CDs, don’t you think?
After some countings, well, I did spend quite a lot on the books and CDs. Well, because someone told me that piracy is a crime (uh huh…), so I force myself to repeat this again and again whenever I want to buy original CD, to emphasize to myself that I was doing the right thing. But then, I still won’t reject pirated MP3 files so that I won’t have to buy the original CDs, hehehe…
