An Interesting Book

I saw this book last Saturday in bookstore KINOKUNIYA, at Plaza Senayan. I had a quick glimpses through the book, and was very interested to buy, when I saw the price : IDR 168,000.
To me, it’s a bit pricey, although the content is very interesting. And the thickness of the book is not that thick anyway. So call me naive stupid girl, I cancelled to buy the book when I compared the sum of the pages just not that many, to be priced at IDR 168,000.
But on 2nd thought today, I might reconsidering to buy the book. Main reason is because the word "Made in China" tickles me a lot. I mean, what’s NOT MADE IN CHINA today? Try name a few, if you can remember.
Bags? THEY MAKE THEM. ( I went all the way to Stockholm, and bought a MEXX handbag for my Mom, and guess what? It was MADE in CHINA, labelled inside. And don’t forget all those fake LV, Prada, etc. You name it.)
Computer chips? YEAH.
Clothes? DEFINITELY.
Kids’ toys? SURE.
Cellular transmitter equipments (BTS, RBS, etc) ? Excuse me, ever heard of HUAWEI TECH? Yep, that company I used to work for, they produce those BTS and the ganks.
So, since I worked for a couple of years in Huawei few years ago, I somehow felt the urge to buy and read this book, see what the author has to say about most things today in our world that are MADE IN CHINA. And how they survive a year without it.
Which to me, the answer is clear, I’m never gonna make it. Honestly. Do you think I’m gonna skip buying that nice, smooth, chic yet cheap longsleeves sweater in MANGO just because it was made in China? It doesn’t matter to me. Whether it was Morocco, or China, or even Indonesia, if I really like the stuff, I’ll buy it.
But, not hairbands from CHINA. Did you hear about used condoms being "transformed" into hairbands and sold cheaply? Hiiii….
Yet, it’s still quite pricey…or maybe I should try to go look for its used version. Or someone who has it might lend it to me (but who???). I don’t know. We’ll see.
